How to Use Google Analytics to Measure Social Media Results

We’ve talked about the need to measure social media marketing efforts, not just qualitatively, but also quantitatively. Many social media experts are still unsure about how to do that. One of the best methods we have found to measure social media results is by creating an advanced segment within your Google Analytics dashboard, so you can actually see social media traffic & conversions etc. right alongside your regular site traffic & conversions. In the Youtube video below, we go through the process of how to set up Google Analytics to measure your social media results.

Remember tracking accurate results is never easy. Just because you don’t see any direct results from social media now, doesn’t mean folks aren’t coming to your site, looking around, and then returning later to buy (With this kind of scenario Google Analytics would just show the incoming traffic and then a failed lead). However, tracking social media results with Google Analytics should be a good way of identifying trends, which are useful in determining any necessary changes you should be making to your overall social media marketing strategy.
