FastPivot Team Fits in a Bowl

When FastPivot held its annual bowling party in Asheville NC last weekend, the normally all-virtual team sprinted for the chance to meet up with the team in person. Remote teams have their virtues, but there’s no substitute for a face-to-face celebration. Naturally, the first order of business at any bowling party is to pick up the mismatched colored shoes and compare to see who got the ugliest pair. Of course, they’re all an equal measure of uninviting hues, so that contest didn’t last long.

For the FastPivot technophile, strikes and spares are too easy of a challenge. So, it’s not a contest to see not who can drop the most pins, but who can send the ball off the fastest. In the photo to the right, we see two daring silhouettes calculating ball release physics. What would a good game be without a little friendly competition? But, when the marketing department accused the programmers of using telekinetic powers, we knew it was time to mix up the teams.

Ultimately, though, bowling is really one of those games that brings everyone together. By the time everyone finished throwing their signature windmill bombs, bowling ball suplexes, black hole howlers, mega-blaster rumbles, and blue lightning snappers, it was time to open arms and set the gritty game face aside for another year.

FastPivot CEO & King Pin, Matthew Ledford, was the first to set his ball back on the rack and declare a treaty. With that, everyone else on the team untied their ugly shoes and huddled up for a few group cheers, hugs, handshakes, fountain drink bumps, and of course some chest beating for the winners–not.

Everyone promptly agreed that the bowling tradition must continue, so over the year it’s likely that FastPivot team members will be secretly spending their weekend nights practicing down at the lanes. Rumor has it that many alleys are installing wifi, so if that’s the case, don’t be surprised to hear the sound of pins clattering in the background on your next FastPivot meeting call.
