What's the Best Ecommerce System?

Six months ago, a member of Linkedin’s E-commerce network group posed this discussion question: “What ecommerce system are you using or what do you like best?”

To date over 500 comments have been logged. The latest comment was made yesterday by FastPivot’s CEO & Co-Founder, Matthew Ledford:

Matthew Ledford • I agree with Arturas and several of the others, all platforms have pros and cons and if you are around the business long enough, you learn the cons that the sites don’t mention…Many of the platforms above are mega expensive. Miva can work well but if isn’t on a host with load balancing, it can crash under pressure. Many folks love Magento but we are hearing that a) it isn’t as inexpensive as it looks at first review and b) large databases load slowly. We do lots of work on Yahoo! [Yahoo! Stores platform] and while it isn’t perfect we find it scales and manages traffic spikes (startups all the way to www.shop3m.com) well and is very cost effective relative to many of those mentioned above…

However, the point Mr. Ledford makes is that many popular ecommerce store platforms carry hidden costs and do not scale as well as they say they do. It’s nice to know that merchants of any size can find a Yahoo! Store that’s right for their ecommerce store, then easily upgrade to the next level when the time is right. FastPivot has found Yahoo! Stores to be a great platform for ecommerce stores of all types. Have a look at FastPivot’s Yahoo! Store portfolio and let us know what you think!
