Top Content Writing Tips from Charlotte NC SEO & Search Engine Marketing Meet Up

FastPivot.com’s Marketing Director, Jennifer Boos; Strategic Services Director, Grant Henry; and Social Media/PR Specialist Jonathan Poston attended the Charlotte NC SEO & Search Engine Marketing Meet Up this past February 4th, 2010.

Scott Hepburn, a nationally recognized speaker and blogger, covered content writing strategies.

His top tips on achieving effective content included:

  • In a world where most blogs fade away after only a few months of their inception, simply entering monthly and annual content goals into an editorial calendar will better guarantee blog longevity and a source of information customers can depend on.
  • Serve your content in bite-sized morsels: Instead of writing a 1000-2000 word blog, break it down into ten blogs with a hundred words each.
  • Anticipate your customer’s next move: Be timely and intuitive about the information you share with your customers to stay ahead of the game.
  • View your content pipeline as just as important as your sales pipeline; if your content doesn’t offer customers a next step, their next step is out the door.
  • Always include a call to action.
  • Remember content and conversation don’t end at conversion. View your customers as lifelong clients and go over and beyond to be a solution to their challenges!
