To demonstrate an effective way¬†of using Twitter for SEO,¬†I’ve searched Google for my name “Jonathan Poston”.¬†As you can see from this YouTube in the first page of¬†Google’s search results, the first mention of my name appears to¬†be on Facebook, but just below that, there’s an entire Twitter search window¬†scrolling recent Twitter search results for: Jonathan Poston. Recent is THE key word here. Google will index Twitter posts by contact and user name title (like it did in my search) quickly but after only¬†a short time, it also begins to ignore these same posts.¬†In order to get any real SEO value for your ecommerce store with Twitter by¬†using SEO keywords in your posts or Twitter user name it’s important to¬†Tweet several times daily using those keywords you want to appear in a google search. Most¬†businesses probably wouldn’t use personal names like I have in my example, but perhaps product titles, upcoming event information, or company branding text.
