All aboard! Yahoo! Store merchants will be glad to learn that Google Plus code is lining up for a Yahoo! Store integration (more on how to add Google Plus to you Yahoo! Store in a moment).
When Google Plus was introduced, we asked the question: Has Google’s Plus Project Already Failed?, however it’s apparent from a recent Mashable report that with 18 million users, the project didn’t flop like many thought it would. There does appear to be some slowing of interest, as the previously referenced Mashable report suggests:
Why is Google+’s growth slowing down? Google Trends indicates that the buzz around Google+ has died down some, which is natural for any major news item. Allen makes the important point that Google+ hasn’t been promoted by any of its other properties and that the social network is still invite-only. Once Google+ is promoted on YouTube or on Google.com, its growth may simply skyrocket.
What’s clear in the above quote, other than the fact that the interest has lessened, is that the trend is one that is to be expected, especially since the project is still invite-only and hasn’t really been promoted.
In this Mashable article, Google+: The Numbers Driving Its Growth [STATS], there’s a nice visual, powered by Experian Hitwise, that charts the rising, and now slightly dipping trend line.
What’s important to consider here is that millions of people have found Google’s Plus to be an important part of their social circles, with Google doing no more than making the network available to a relatively few people, and giving those users the power the invite their friends and associates. While Facebook and Twitter have an obvious lead, many are touting Google Plus as a hangout for professional groups who want to easily connect and share with one another without having to scroll through thousands of periphery messages to interact with their “circles.”
Ollomedia.com recently published an article titled, Adding Google Plus to Your Yahoo! Store, which should be helpful for those interested in encouraging customers to share store details with their Google’s Plus “circles.” For those who visit this “how-to” page and feel an overwhelming sense of panic, just give FastPivot a shout and we’ll get our Yahoo!
