The graphic below is a screen shot from Simply Youth Ministry’s “The Way I’m Wired” DVD product page. If you wanted to buy the DVD on that page, you click on “Add to Cart.” After clicking “Add to Cart,” you would normally go on to purchase the product, but with this new cross-sell feature, a pop-up appears asking if you would like some workbooks to go along with the DVD you just selected.
This point of purchase pop-up cross sell feature, developed by FastPivot, for Yahoo! Stores is great if you’re selling a product that goes accessories, add-ons, or complementary items. Customers buying anything that needs refills or replacement parts could benefit from a feature like this: instead of having to back out of the cart onto the home page to search for last minute related items like this, those items are conveniently located along an intuitive point in the navigation flow.
While Yahoo! Store merchants are seeing this a way to cross sell the last minute before customer get to the cart, many don’t notice that this feature is the perfect blend of a multi-add and cross sell feature. Customers can add everything to their cart at one time. There’s also the option for merchants to add bulk pricing (there’s an additional link that can be used for bulk pricing).
If you’re a Yahoo! Store merchant who wants to get cross sells directly in front of the shopper at just the right time (vs. mentioning them as an afterthought on the product page or worse, not at all), contact FastPivot to request more information on this new feature.
