Ecreamery.com Enjoys Sweet Success
with Facebook Contest

Since 2002, the blissful aroma of eCreamery.com's gourmet ice cream has enchanted throngs with its gelato, ice cream, and sorbet-which comes with a choice of 56 different toppings: butter brickle, pecans, cherry swirls, candied ginger, etc.; and 100 unique flavors such as: black walnut, blueberry, cheesecake, cardamom, lavender, pumpkin, white chocolate, etc.

eCreamery.com's savory aroma has even reached aficionado schnozzes within the nation's high-tower news departments. To date, eCreamery.com has been featured in: USA Today, DINE Magazine, Fox's American Idol, MSNBC, NBC, CBS, New York Times, E! Entertainment, Esquire, CNN Money, Foodnetwork, The Today Show, teenVogue, and many more!

Even with so many devotees regularly smacking on spoonfuls of sugary goodness, eCreamery.com's chief creamers are planning to ship sleighs of their signature pints to millions of flocking Facebookers. But, the challenge of how to tempt such a large field of taste buds needed to be solved.

A Social Commerce Solution is Developed

To help reach their goal of building a social media presence and generating interest in "Create Your Own" flavors, FastPivot's marketing strategists proposed developing an "ice cream contest" in which visitors could create and share their very own unique flavor with friends and family on Facebook. The winning flavor, the one that collected the most "Likes," received a complimentary order of their creation to enjoy.

To make this easy for eCreamery.com to manage all of the entries and pick a winner, FastPivot developed a custom interface which takes entries submitted from the "create your own ice cream page" and stores them in an application for eCreamery.com to review and approve. Once approved, these entries were visible in a grid and as an individual contest page within eCreamery.com. The FastPivot-built Facebook contest application tracked the leading entry and allowed eCreamery.com to identify the winning submissions.
"We had over 200 entries in a 45 day period and each entry had an average of 3 "Likes," so we estimate exposure at 600 to 1200 in that 45 day period. The interactive contest was an effective way to increase time spent on the site and drive new traffic to us via social media referrals, which in the end resulted in an increase in sales. FastPivot helped us both strategize the contest from inception, implement to plan and trouble shoot along the way. They're a valuable partner to have."

Being built on the Yahoo! Store ecommerce platform, eCreamery.com had to rely on FastPivot's extensive knowledge and experience to create and launch a successful campaign. Being right up FastPivot's alley, they were able to create a custom application that seamlessly integrated into their Yahoo! Store-making it easy for eCreamery.com to hold future contests and build upon the success of the first one.
"We are going to keep the contest going monthly now."
The contest that FastPivot developed for eCreamery.com was not only a success in generating additional "likes" and "followers" in Facebook but also led to custom flavor sales and regular sales.
