Pastors.com and Saddleback Resources Site Launches

Christianity Today has called Rick Warren “America’s most influential pastor”. Since the creation of Saddleback Church in 1980, weekly attendance has grown to upwards of 20,000 people. The influence of “Purpose Driven Life” and the accompanying curriculum, “Purpose Driven Church” is worldwide.

With a global influence of this scale, companies are naturally forced to scale systems, processes and platforms – especially when education is their main component.

Last year, Pastors.com and Saddleback Church approached FastPivot with a need to move beyond their current content and commerce platforms. Bootstrapping current systems can work well. But at a certain point, a company must slide into new systems that enable scalability going forward – not just tweak to make an older system function for the time being.

The problem with Saddleback (commerce) and Pastors.com (content) was one of disparates. While both were tied closely together, the branding was not aligned. Not to mention that running their store was difficult due to an expiring system.

The solution was a WordPress-based content environment with a Shopify store to support commerce. The end result involved customization of Shopify’s environment to account for product peculiarities and the need for original methods of presentation. We are all happy with the result.

The added benefit to these new systems is an alignment of branding. Pastors.com and SaddlebackResources.com now share the same designs, and the company has plans to align these sites together even closer in the coming months.

From Nadim Najim at Pastors.com: “We couldn’t have asked for a better partner than Fast Pivot to help us achieve our goals with our new site build. Although collectively, our team has decades worth of ecommerce experience under our belts, Fast Pivot brought to the table the best practices, project management, and marketing considerations needed to ensure a successful site launch and on-going revenue growth.”

Companies who feel they are outgrowing their technology most likely are. However, that is not always the case. Each conversation around moving to new technology or modifying current tech is an organic one. Every case is different.

How do you feel about your current tech? Give us a call, and let’s talk about it!
